Borneo Jazz 2018 will be a 3 day format

Coco Cabana , Marina Bay, Miri will host of the 13th edition of the Borneo Jazz Festival.

This year, the festival will, for the first time, will span for over 3 days from May 11 to 13, 2018.

The Festival owners, the Sarawak Tourism Board and the event organizers, No Black Tie, is set to introduce acts from Poland, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and Japan, with acclaimed Asian performers Gaoyang Li, Jeremy Monteiro, Michael Veerapen.

Renowned Malaysian singer,  Dato’ Zainal Abidin, will perform with 3 SAXES made up of 3 SAXES namely Tony Lakatos (Germany), Gaoyang Li (China) and Julian Chan together with Michael Veerapen (Malaysia).

Borneo Jazz Festival 2018 will also see Dato’ Zainal launch his complete music book for his debut album, with full piano score, lyrics and guitar chords aptly named ‘The Hijau Album’ after his iconic hit song Hijau which also contains three bonus songs, Satu, Orak Orek and Puteri, not found in the original album.

The 2018 line-up includes internationally acclaimed artists like the Swiss-French ensemble Chris Stalk Quartet, Italian vocalist Cecilia Brunori, Chinese saxophonist Gaoyang Li, multi-talented Polish artist Grzegorz Karnas, Cuban band Havana Social Club featuring Lazaro Numa, and Singaporean jazz icon, Jeremy Monteiro leading the 18-piece Jazz Association of Singapore Orchestra (JASSO).

In addition, line-ups also include exclusive multinational collaborations such as the Malaysian-Japanese WVC featuring Isao Miyoshi and Gypsy Jazz featuring artists from Belgium, Taiwan and Malaysia.

Other Malaysian performers making an appearance include up-and-coming pianist John Dip Silas and the diverse Nadir with its unique combination of classically-trained Carnatic singer, pop pianist, metal guitarist, rock drummer and saxophonist.
